History

The group began in February 2023 at the University of Araraquara (Uniara), in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. We work in the field of Conservation Science, focusing on investigating the impacts of human activities on biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as identifying strategies for their prevention and mitigation.

Our projects involve different interdisciplinary approaches and rely on the collaboration of partners in several Brazilian states, as well as international institutions.

Even in its initial phase, the group is already developing research of national and international scope, contributing to the production of knowledge focused on nature conservation.

Logo

Our logo consists of three interlocking circles of equal size, symbolizing the interdisciplinarity of Conservation Science and the collective nature of the scientific enterprise.
The first circle
represents planet Earth, highlighting the Neotropical region and Brazil in the center, areas that are home to much of the planet's biodiversity. The image of the planet captured from space spurred the environmental movement—a clear demonstration of how scientific and technological development can benefit society and the environment.

In the second circle, we find the footprints of a deer, reflecting our focus on wildlife conservation, especially ungulates, hoofed animals that are the main focus of our studies.

The third circle represents the Vitruvian Man, referring to our humanist values and the integration of Social Sciences with Conservation Biology.
